Fusion® 938

Hydrogen Valves

Hydrogen molecules are very small, flammable, and lighter than air. One of the primary challenges that valves face with Hydrogen is permeation, causing leakage. The extremely flammable nature of Hydrogen makes it dangerous, especially in closed environments. So, fugitive emissions are a real concern with Hydrogen. Greene Tweed offers a wide range of solutions made of materials suited for Hydrogen applications:

Stem seals

  • Avalon® 56 V-stacks made from low permeability, high purity modified PTFE

RGD resistant seals

  • Fusion® 938 O-rings made from high performance FKM
  • MSE® spring energized lip seals for extreme temperatures and pressures

Low temperature seals

  • Fusion® 665 O-rings made from high performance FKM for low temperature services

Valve seats

  • Arlon® 3000XT cross-linked PEEK with low permeability and increased Tg

Hydrogen Compressors

Compressors are one of the most critical equipment to transport the increasing amount of hydrogen that will be required to properly support the expected rise in hydrogen demand.

But designing new machines or upgrading existing compressors for hydrogen services poses many challenges and polymer materials should be carefully selected. Our Engineering team recommends the following solutions for hydrogen compressors:

Hydrogen Instrumentation

Electrolysers and fuel cell technology, key to producing green Hydrogen and decarbonizing our economy, need material solutions that can withstand challenges, such as material outgassing, chemical compatibility or degradation of mechanical properties at increased temperatures.
