Employees Meet the Challenge to Quickly Manufacture and Deliver 8,000 Ventilator Parts for Treatment of COVID-19 Patients

On March 26, Prime Minister Boris Johnson requested that leading British manufacturing companies adapt their operation to supply parts for ventilator production in support of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The next day, Green Tweed was contacted by Rolls Royce regarding the manufacture of ventilator parts to assist the U.K.’s COVID-19 relief program.

The Greene Tweed U.K. team worked remotely from their home offices throughout the weekend to review the product request and provide a manufacturing method.

The management team at Greene Tweed’s Kulpsville, PA, Headquarters was quickly contacted, and the project process and production was given the green light to address Rolls Royce’s request.

Greene Tweed designed, manufactured, and shipped 7,483 spring guide components in 11 days with the remainder delivered four days later.

“Greene Tweed is proud to be involved in this project to support the COVID-19 relief effort,” said Tony Baldassara, Enterprise Value Stream Manager at Greene Tweed.

“To know that we played a part in possibly saving lives from COVID-19 is an incredible feeling and very hard to put into words,” said Kevin Lukiewski, President, Greene Tweed. “I admire and am proud of our team’s work – they responded immediately and enthusiastically to the request. We ARE in this together!”

Greene Tweed’s parts contributed to the manufacture of more than 8,000 ventilators to U.K. NHS patients, with another 8,000 to be produced by the manufacturing team within the next few weeks.
